down the drain.

antique shops don't seem to last very long which is kind of a cruel irony for antique dealers. this one's been up for sale for a long time. pity, peering from the street into the dim interior it looks like an aladin's cave of curios.

The reflection really enhances this image Ian. It seems to make it have even more of a nostalgic feel. Of course the turtle is a bonus.

truth told, i was hoping to capture more of the interior but, despite the dullest of skies here lately, it was still too dark inside that old shop!

thanks. i cobbled the avatar from two IFs, jody. i felt i was missing out. actually, it saves work seeing if i've already replied or not! no small change left for the old brain slot meter...

i knew you'd like the turtle, steve! ;o)

its good..oddly enough i've seen several similar shops..one was always shut..maybe its just a storage place for antique markets. I remember looking at an old hornby trainset..rally old..maybe 1940's'50's..nice to kno these places are still around.

excellent work..the darkness adds to the dusty fogginess just right..i can almost smell the musty atmosphere..trouble is i'm v.allergic to dust:-/

Hello Ian
Your pictures have given this antique shop a feeling of mystique. Is it reality or is it some ghostly image? Here in the US there are thousands of businesses claiming to have "antiques" but in reality the items are discarded "stuff" that should have stayed discarded. Boy would I like to have a long look about in your antique store!
Have a wonderful day
Babe :>
